Help Gerry's vision continue to bloom
Our founder, Gerald Durrell, was a pioneer of zoo-led conservation, planting the seed that zoos should help combat the threats faced by wildlife worldwide. Since then, Gerry’s ideas have blossomed into the global conservation organisation we know today, working to save species from extinction at Durrell's headquarters in Jersey and at our rewilding sites around the world.

Introducing Bloom
Inspired by Gerry’s story and passion, and designed by internationally acclaimed artist Stuart Semple, Bloom is a colourful meadow made up of thousands of flower sculptures, celebrating both the past 100 years and looking ahead to the next 100. Featuring six of Gerry’s favourite flowers, each sculpture represents his lasting legacy and how one person’s achievements can flourish into something far greater and wide-reaching.
The simple act of purchasing a flower sculpture has the power to influence change and support global wildlife conservation, helping to create a wilder, healthier, more colourful world.

Be part of the next 100 years
Your limited-edition flower will be part of the art installation on display at Jersey Zoo from 6 June.
The flowers featured in Bloom are chrysanthemums, freesias, roses, scarlet pimpernel, crocuses, and pink magnolias, and each sculpture is made from eco-renewable recycled castor oil and plant fibres.
Each flower is painted in one of seven vibrant Stuart Semple colours and finished with a coat of ‘Lit’ paint, which makes them glow in the dark.
When you buy a flower, you’ll get exclusive updates from us, including behind-the-scenes content from Stuart Semple, and receive your one-of-a-kind flower once the installation has come to an end.
Durrell x Stuart Semple
A unique collaboration, the partnership between Stuart Semple and Durrell has resulted in a truly unique and captivating installation that blends art, technology, and environmental stewardship. Stuart has previously worked with us on our Go Wild Gorillas and Tortoise Takeover sculpture trails. A multidisciplinary British artist whose work spans painting, performance, internet art, and installation, Stuart’s practice addresses sociological themes and contemporary anxieties. Often an activist in nature, his projects advocate for fairness, equality, and access in the arts.
