The Durrell Dash returns for 2022 with a spooky twist!
The Durrell Dash is back! Kindly sponsored by Rathbones, this popular fun run will take place on Sunday 6 November, starting and finishing at Jersey Zoo, with the choice of a spellbinding 6K or a trembling 12K route through the lanes of Trinity. New for this year is the family-friendly 2.6K course for runners aged eight and over.
The charity’s 15th Durrell Dash coincides with the final day of their exciting new event for 2022, Museum of Bones, a spine-tingling pop-up exhibit taking place at the zoo from 20 October to 6 November, especially for Halloween and the school holidays. The event organisers are encouraging runners of all abilities to sign up for this spooktacular running event and get into the Halloween spirit by running in fancy dress and paying a visit to the Museum of Bones after the race.
Alexandra Shears, Durrell’s Director of Communications and Fundraising, says, “We are so excited to welcome runners back to the Durrell Dash this year. Along with our event sponsor, Rathbones, we hope to see as many ghosts and ghouls as possible taking to the lanes of Trinity for this Halloween-themed fun run. Brand new at the zoo this October Half Term is the Museum of Bones, which we encourage everyone to come and explore after the run! We hope the public will feel inspired to take part and raise funds for Durrell’s work saving some of the world’s rarest animals.”
Runners can sign up for the Durrell Dash here. Registration closes at 9am on Tuesday 1 November.
Upon registration, participants are encouraged to set up their own fundraising page to help raise funds for the care of the animals at Jersey Zoo and Durrell’s global conservation efforts to create a future where wildlife can thrive.
Special prizes will be awarded to the highest fundraiser and best-dressed Dasher, so be sure to dust off your broomsticks, wear your spookiest Halloween outfits or even come dressed as your favourite nocturnal animal!
Commenting on their ongoing support, Richard Gomersall, Head of Client Development at Rathbones in Jersey, says, “We are pleased to continue our support of this event, as just one part of a number of Durrell initiatives that we help with. We hope everyone has a fang-tastic time. I am sure the spooktacular Durrell Dash is going to be great, I can feel it in my bones!”
After the race, all runners will receive an exclusive finisher medal, refreshments at the finish line, and free entry to Jersey Zoo to enjoy the final day of the Musuem of Bones, as well as exploring the beautiful grounds and meeting some of the zoo’s newest residents.
